If there is a chance to
stay in Semarang, stop into the Old city area. As soon as people often say.
Certainly makes me curious, the nickname Little Netherland which are embedded
in the region increasingly adding curiosity.
Like
living in the era of Dutch colonial era.
In the eastern city of
Semarang, Central Java, there is a region called the Old town. Many people say,
lose if we do not visit the region when in the capital city of Central Java.
Moreover, the old city can be achieved with only 15 minutes away from downtown.
Region is also known as the little Netherland, European feel very thick. Some
among us may feel like the Dutch colonial era.
What is clear, in the
old city we will see hundreds of ancient buildings with art deco style of
architecture, renaissance, and Borouge. Apparently, European feel of it came
from there. Old buildings, it seems to make the region or city stad Out
nicknamed Little long in Netherland.

So far, the government
of Semarang city did not specify the old city as a tourist area. Therefore,
many buildings there seem less touch. Some even seemed unkempt. Nevertheless,
the beauty of the buildings in the region still attracts many tourists. In the
book "the city of Semarang in memories", students of history the city
of Semarang Jongkie Tio wrote, in the mid-18th century, along Heerenstrat or
road-Toean Toean (now Lieutenant General Suprapto road) which divides the
Little Netherland stood storey buildings are charming. Building - the building
is a shopping and residential rich people.
Some old buildings in
the area does look unkempt. Nevertheless, the architecture of buildings -
buildings there still attract many people. For example, Church buildings
Blenduk who became an icon old town. Blenduk church was built in 1753 as
Nederlandsche Indesche Kerk church. Since then, the building several times in
the renovation. Including a distinctive dome shape. Across the church Blenduk,
there Jiwasraya building functioned as an office and the insurance company.
Other ancient buildings
in the old town which still functioned until now is the Tawang railway station.
The station adopted the ancient style Indische architecture that suits the
tropical climate.
